He was both my 9th-grade history teacher and either sophomore or freshman current events teacher. He was pretty cool and chill. We always watched CNN student news, the anchor being the pun-loving Carl Azuz. McDaniel taught us how to thoroughly check sources and look at ALL news outlets before forming an opinion on something. He encouraged my writing by saying "I always look forward to reading your work, you have some of the best writing I've seen in my teaching career." With puns, jokes, easy-going, and love of mass effect (he got me into playing the series). I do miss one of my favorite teachers.
